8 days/7 nights trip through the most interested ethnic zones of Western Ukraine Boykivshchyna (Lviv) and Hutsulshchyna (Festival place).
This Hutsul Festival is most evident in annual celebrations and festivals, reflecting love of folklore and wonder about the surrounding mountains, the crystal clear rivers and the rolling green hills. This year, the competition at the Hutsul Festival will bring together some of the finest dancers, entertainers and craft makers from the region. You’ll be dazzled by the bright and lively colours of the native costumes and the intricacy of handicrafts and woodwork.
DAY 1 LVIV Arriving Lviv – the “city of lions”, the heart and soul of Western Ukraine, its largest city and one of Ukraine`s most important cultural, academic and economic centres.
Welcoming dinner.
DAY 2 LVIV Morning panoramic city tour with the most interesting sites of Lviv including St. George Cathedral, University building, Freedom Avenue with Shevchenko monument, old city quarters, included into UNESCO World Heritage list: Market square, Armenian quarter, complex of Assumption church, remnants of Lviv fortifications. A highlight of the tour is the visit to the High Castle Hill with its beautiful panoramic views. Afternoon visit to crafts market.
DAY 3 LVIV – CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS Coach transfer to Carpathian town where the Hutsul Festival takes place. En route sightseeing stops in Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomya. Kolomya – centre of Hutsul culture, visiting Museum of Hutsul Applied Art and “Pysanka” Museum with the largest in the world collection of Easter eggs.
Lunch en route in Hutsul style restaurant “Kolyba” in Kolomya. Dinner and overnight in Hutsul Festival capital.
DAY 4 LVIV – HUTSUL FESTIVAL PLACE After breakfast departure for the Hutsul Festival activities: grand opening of the Festival, open-air concerts, crafts fairs, etc.
Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 5 HUTSUL FESTIVAL PLACE After breakfast departure for the Hutsul Festival activities: open-air concerts, the Festival grand closing, master-classes of Hutsul craftsmen. Hutsul style dinner at local restaurant.
DAY 6 HUTSUL FESTIVAL PLACE – IVANO-FRANKIVSK – KYIV Transfer to Ivano-Frankivsk, flight to Kyiv.
DAY 7 KYIV Arriving Kyiv – the capital of Ukraine, its largest administrative, economic, scientific, cultural and educational centre and one of its main travel attractions.
Afternoon city tour visiting St. Sophia Cathedral, the Golden Gates – ancient entrance to Kyiv, St. Andrew Cathedral, St. Volodymyr Cathedral, Mariyinskyy Palace.
Farewell Ukrainian style dinner.
DAY 8 KYIV After breakfast – visit to Kyiv Cave Monastery, the complex of churches, that make up the Lavra – masterpieces of architecture, and the monastery also famous for its catacombs with the relics of many Orthodox saints. Afternoon departure from Kyiv.
